DESULPHURISATION FACILITIES IMPLEMENTATION PROJECTS

CURRENT STATUS

DESULFURARERovinari
–Power Unit No. 3, facility in operation since 2011;
–Power Unit No. 6, facility in operation since 2012;
–Power Unit No. 4, facility in operation since 2014.

Turceni
–Power Units No. 4 and No. 5, facility in operation since 2011;
–Power Unit No. 3, facility in operation since 2012;
–Power Unit No. 7, facility in operation since 2016.

Isalnita
–Power Units No. 7 and No. 8, facility completed in 2014.

TECHNOLOGY
A wet type system using limenstone as absorbent substance and from this resulting gypsum, as a by-product of the retention of sulphur dioxide, which can be used as raw material in cement plants.

IMPACT
Reducing the concentration of suphur dioxides from 6000 mg/Ncm below the limit accepted by the current standards, i.e. below 200 mg/Ncm.

DeNox FACILITIES IMPLEMENTATION PROJECTS

CURRENT STATUS
Flue gas DeNOx facilities are to be implemented at power unit No. 6 – Rovinari Thermal Power Plant Branch and power units No. 5 and No. 7 – Turceni Thermal Power Plant, and the NOx concentration in flue gases will not exceed 200 mg/Nmc upon completion of the implementation process.

SLAG AND ASH DISCHARGE USING DENSE SLURRY TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGY
Slag and ash discharge in self-hardening dense slurry is achieved by a maximum optimal ratio of liquid-solid mixture = 1/1.

IMPACT
Increase in the stability coefficient of the deposit.
Ash is fixed and is not blown by the wind.
The infiltration water is clean and very low in quantity.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS DURING JUNE 2012 – DECEMBER 2017

-Reduction of NOx emissions at Rovinari Thermal Power Plant Branch through urea injection (experimental) at power unit No. 6 and at power unit No. 7 within Turceni Thermal Power Plant Branch.
– Reduction in NOx emissions within Rovinari Thermal Power Plant Branch through urea injection (experimental procedures) at Power Unit No. 6.
– Ecological reconstruction by land reclamation for forest or agriculture (approx. 720 ha received and approx. 830 ha in progress of reclamation).
– Obtaining the Authorisation for the Emission of Greenhouse Gases for all thermal power plants, valid during 2013-2020.
– Obtaining the Integrated Environmental Authorisation for all thermal power plants branches.

INITIATED INVESTMENT PROJECTS

– Reduction of NOx emissions at Rovinari Thermal Power Plant Branch, by developing secondary measures, on Power Unit No. 6
– Reduction of NOx emissions at Turceni Thermal Power Plant Branch, by developing secondary measures, on Power Unit No. 5
– Reduction of NOx emissions at Turceni Thermal Power Plant Branch, by developing secondary measures, on Power Unit No. 7
